My New Years resolution for 2015 was to learn to play D&D or Pathfinder, or some related tabletop RPG. Toward the end of 2014 I had signed up for a RedditGifts exchange for tabletop RPGs, and was gifted the Pathfinder Beginners Box. This really sparked my interest, and I started looking for a game to join. I finally found a good group to play with online using Roll20, and then also came across some like minded people via the San Diego Redditors Gaming Club (SDRGC). Over the course of playing with these awesome people for the past year, I’ve had adventures beyond what I even imagined, got in touch with some old friends and made some new ones as well.
I’m going to be logging some of our game notes from the ongoing Magnamar campaign, as well as some stuff from Orkland for posterity.
I’ve also revisited my childhood interest in the Battletech universe. My cousin Steve in Oklahoma started sending my brother and I the original BattleTech tabletop game and a bunch of the original plastic mini figures. I know these are still in my parents storage unit somewhere, and I hope to find them someday. The original minis from the 80’s are worth some money! I recently picked up the awesome Battletech Introductory Box Set, which is a great way to get back into the game. I also grabbed the new “classic Battletech” core rulebook – Battletech Total Warfare, which explains the in-depth rules for the tabletop game beyond the intro rules in the box set. I also want to start running a Battletech RPG campaign in our weekly gaming group, so I got the new RPG rulebook – A Time Of War. I also lucked out on a buy off Craigslist containing a TON of original FASA Battletech publications, as well as getting a huge box of all my original PC games that my dad had in storage.
See the specific pages for details around both of these games and my growing collection.
