TandT Update

I finally got around to doing a site redesign, and made some major changes.  I’m pretty pleased with the new layout, and I ditched a lot of stuff that just wasn’t working.  I got rid of the google ads and other stuff, because I don’t even post on here enough to make any money from it anyway.  No one visits a site without any decent content, and I’m so busy I don’t have much time to provide any good content anyway.  However, in its new format its much easier to post quick thoughts, and I don’t feel like I need to write some long, coherent post.  I based it off the T1 Tumbler theme – which allows you to use wordpress kind of like a tumblog.  Just quick ideas and updates.  Here’s a quick breakdown of what I did and why.

1. The last design didn’t have much of a menu.  I have some cool stuff up here – like my What I’m reading page.  Takes the RSS feed from my google reader and shows everything I have shared.  Its a cool look at everything I see that interests me.  No one probably saw any of the other pages on here with the last design because they were buried in the side bar.

2. One post showing.  Not 5 or 10 like I used to have.  No one wants to scroll through crap to see the stuff I’m saying anyway, so now you can just go straight to the home page, see what I thought was important today, and leave.  Thats it.  You can check out the archives if you want to see some old stuff, otherwise just get the daily update.

3. A small sidebar with a few relevent pieces of information.  Nothing fancy, no ads, just a quick look at what I have posted recently, see who has commented on them, browse my categories and tags.  Everything you might need all in one place to quickly get where you want to go.

4. A quick glance at my what xbox games I’m playing.  I have always loved this feature on Matt Brett’s blog (www.mattbrett.com) so I made one for myself.  I just made a table and put the images in manually, but I think it would be really cool to make a wordpress plugin that would do this for you, and link back to the games on gamespot, and pull up their cover artwork automatically.  I may attempt to build this if I ever get a free second.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the new view. I’m going to try and keep some updates going daily, just a quick paragraph, a photo, video, something thats on my mind.  Thats it!
