Just my CRFuckin Luck

Pulled my CRF out of the shed to throw my new red sticker on there, and just my damn luck I left it leaning up against the garage and it fell over.  Landed on the left side and the shift lever punched straight through the case and completely cracked it.  It also bent my brand new ASV levers in half (so much for those things being unbreakable!)  If anything, this is the sign that its finally time to do that top end I’ve been delaying for years…so I’ll tackle that soon.  Evan is going to order the parts for me since he can get them at cost, so at least it will save me a couple bucks on the job.

Note the diagram on cardboard for the bolts.  I’ve learned the hard way a few times that its beneficial to mark the order of the bolts when you take them out so that you make sure to put them back in the right order!

A Nice Ride and a Dropped Chief

Had a great last night and day today.  Last night I picked up some 3″ lowering blocks from Autozone for $29.99 and installed them on the chief.  Turned out pretty rad, but didn’t quite get the drop I wanted because of the tall white walls I have on there.  They are a couple inches too tall for the car, so to get the back end dropped properly I’ll need to put on some shorter tires.  Although I got these original 1950’s Firestone retreads for $200 delivered a couple years back, so you can’t beat that.  I’ll drive em until they blow up, then when I can finally afford proper size tires with the full 2″ white wall ($1000), I’ll upgrade.  Evan put the 2″ lowering blocks on his ride, and they fit just fine with no mods, but on mine I had to the take a grinder to the metal pin on top of the lowering block that fits up into the axle and into the leaf spring.  It fit after some grinding, and ended up working well.  Here are some shots:

Then this morning woke up at 7 and headed out to Corral Canyon with Moto Cam and Aaron.  It was a rad session, we got in a good day of riding and had a ton of fun.  There is a lot of cool trails out there between CC and Buckman Springs ranging from hardpack trails to really technical rocky stuff.  We even got into some really cool forest trails crossing streams and some really wet parts.  We got really direty and had a great session.  At one spot we came across a nice little track with some rad berms dug out in the middle of nowhere.  Took some good shots, check em:
